Build for Good is led by Founder, Allison Shapiro.

Allison is a strategist, operating partner, and impact advisor who blends strong business acumen with heart to help mission-driven organizations grow and deepen their impact. She works both fractionally and consultatively with clients.

With 18 years of experience at the intersection of partnerships, capital, and social good, Allison has led teams, designed funds, and forged long-term strategic partnerships to align individual organizational goals with positive systemic outcomes.

Allison has worn many hats throughout her career, including:

  • Leading a new markets business after completing a competitive 18-month management training program (JPMorgan);

  • Structuring and launching four impact investment funds for environmental impact and local economic development (JPMorgan, Closed Loop Partners);

  • Managing large-scale partnerships for circular supply chains (Closed Loop Partners) and animal welfare (Compassion in World Farming);

  • Supporting the early growth of non-profit and for-profit clients in workforce development, refugee services, and climate sectors (Build for Good);

  • Publishing research on carbon markets (Ecosystem Marketplace) and sustainable development policy (Brookings Institution);

  • Serving on five non-profit boards, including LIFT-NY, Echoing Green, the Sanitation Foundation, Michigan Climate Venture, and her children’s preschool.

Allison holds a B.S. in Science, Technology & International Affairs from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, magna cum laude, and M.B.A. and M.S. degrees in Finance & Strategy and Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan.

When not working…

Allison finds joy in unplugged time with her two children and husband in the Washington, DC area. She loves exercising, cooking, exploring new places, and bringing people together.
