Build for Good is led by Founder, Allison Shapiro.

With a head for business, a passion for community, and a demonstrated track record growth with impact, Allison brings more than 15 years of strategic planning, business development, impact investing, and partnership building in service of her clients.

Your mission becomes hers!

Allison has worn many hats throughout her career — from conservation fieldwork in Belize, to leading a markets business and setting up the Advancing Cities Loan Program at JPMorgan, to managing cross-sector partnerships for sustainability at Closed Loop Partners.

Allison has always sought opportunities to align public good with prevailing incentives—and where they do not yet exist, to build them. This extends into her board and advisory work at a number of organizations, including Brookings Institution, Echoing Green, LIFT NY, People Fund, the Sanitation Foundation, Michigan Climate Venture, and her children’s preschool.

Allison holds a B.S. in Science, Technology & International Affairs from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, and an M.B.A. and M.S. in Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan.

When not working…

Allison loves spending quality unplugged time with her two children, husband, and working in her garden at home in the Washington, DC area. She loves exercising, cooking, exploring, and bringing people together.

“Allison has been an invaluable partner in guiding one of our food systems coalitions — expertly facilitating our external working group, crafting a clear and actionable strategic plan with KPIs, and advising us on both partnership and brand strategy. She brings a blend of strategic thinking, partnership management, action orientation and ability to pivot quickly that makes her an effective Working Group facilitator and trusted advisor to our team.”
